While being treated for various ailments in an Atlanta hospital for eight days, Cynthia Franz died of a massive heart attack, on December 29, 2013.
She was the widow of Raymond Franz, former governing body member of Jehovah's Witnesses who was disfellowshipped and wrote the books Crisis of conscience and In search of christian freedom.
